I've always loved turquoise gemstones like these:
So, OPI "Fly" struck a chord with me, and I've had it on for the last 3 days. When I got home today, I decided to try to create a turquoise gem effect on a nail. Over the "Fly", I dabbed on some Ulta "Lucky Penny", some Finger Paints "Meet Me At The Met", just a little "OPI Ink" and more "Fly" - I dipped the brushes into MEK solvent to thin them a bit, and between each color I dipped the nail to promote bleeding. (The dipping produced some bubbling - next time I'll use a very fine art brush to dab solvent where I want to bleed colors together..) Then I let it all dry, and topcoated. Here's the result:
As always, I'm sorry for the blurry photo...
I love it!! I'm a big fan of turquoise as well. I think you achieved the effect you were going for.
ReplyDeleteYour accent nail is FABULOUS! Excellent job!
ReplyDeleteOooOOooh I adore the accent! I absolutely love turquoise gemstones too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great effect! The turquoise color itself is pretty but the accent nail just MAKES it.
ReplyDeleteNow that is a picture that makes me want to get Fly. I'd been trying to figure out a way to get like a 'rubbed copper' effect with a turquoise and I think you've got it. Well done.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog! You are one creative fella. Come and do my nails ok? :)
ReplyDeleteDani, I'd love to! And, if you can afford "a trillion billion dollars" for a pedi, you can definitely fly me out to wherever you are for a free pedi!
DeleteSeriously, if your within about an hour or two of Cleveland, I'll do your nails anytime!
I've nominated you for the Versatile Blogger Award on my blog! http://pixelspolish.blogspot.com/2012/02/versatile-blogger-award.html
